After several years of dedicated leadership, Rein Strijker, Biotech Booster’s current Chief Business Officer, will retire per December 31 of this year. Rein has been instrumental in helping to shape the foundations of Biotech Booster, and building strong partnerships across academia, industry, and biotech entrepreneurs. His vision and commitment to bringing biotech innovations closer to market have left a lasting mark on the Dutch biotech landscape. His impact was recognized when he received the Roland Lageveen Award from hollandbio in 2020 for his contributions to Dutch biotech and life sciences. With Rein’s upcoming retirement, we take this opportunity to express our appreciation for his outstanding contributions to Biotech Booster and to the wider Dutch biotech ecosystem.
Throughout his career, Rein has been a passionate advocate for translating scientific discoveries into tangible societal value. His leadership, experience, and extensive network have been essential in positioning Biotech Booster as a national catalyst for biotech innovation. Within his role as part of Biotech Booster’s management team, the organization has laid the groundwork for a vibrant, collaborative Dutch biotech ecosystem that will continue to grow in the years ahead. We are grateful for his vision and dedication during Biotech Booster’s formative years and wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement.
As of Nov 1st, 2025, Dr. Marco de Boer MBA will take over the role of Chief Business Officer from Rein. Marco has experience in several Life Science and Biotechnology fields. He has a Ph.D. in molecular biology, and an MBA from the Nyenrode Business University. He has had held several management positions: CEO at Predica Diagnostics, CEO at NTrans Technologies BV, COO at Crossbeta Biosciences BV, Head of Research at to-BBB, Head of Bioprocessing at Kerry I&F, Director Biomolecules at Isogen Life Science, and Research Manager at Unilever Research, Vlaardingen.

We are on a mission to select and support those Biotech projects that will drive a sustainable business model and a healthy future for people and planet”.
It is Biotech Booster’s vision to be the central Dutch hub for all stakeholders in biotechnology valorization to create impact for society, economy and environment.
