Biotech Booster operates on a national level through a central office and 39 business- and impact developers spread over 20+ knowledge institutes in The Netherlands. We distinguish between 5 Thematic Clusters (TC’s) that each represent specific biotech focus areas. Within these clusters – or communities – we bring together knowledge institutes, scientists and and the biotech industry to join forces and ensure that that the benefits of biotechnology will have more and faster impact on society.
Industrial Biotechnology & Production
White biotechnology, or industrial biotechnology, uses biological processes and organisms to create sustainable solutions in industries like energy, chemicals, and manufacturing.
Agriculture & Food
Green biotechnology uses biological systems and organisms to develop environmentally sustainable solutions for the agriculture, food and feed sectors.
ATMP's , Biopharmaceuticals & Associated Enabling Technologies
This sub-category within red biotechnology focuses on developing innovative medicines for human use based on genes, tissues or cells, biopharmaceuticals, and technologies that enhance the discovery, development and efficacy of ATMPs and biopharmaceuticals.
Diagnostics and Services
This sub-category within red biotechnology focuses improving the gathering and analysis of biological data through the measurement, detection and monitoring of physiological, biochemical and genetic characteristics, along with services related to these processes.
Vaccines, Small Molecules, Discovery & Development Platforms
This cluster focuses on fostering emerging biotechnology assets that aim to prevent and treat diseases with a high unmet need and associated burden, including small molecules and vaccines for infectious diseases and cancer. To drive the future therapeutics and vaccines, the cluster also has a keen eye on cutting-edge platform technologies that enable the discovery of new drugs as well as enhance the development of those new therapeutics.
