Liaison Officer (0,8-1 FTE)
Utrecht
Start date: as soon as possible
Biotech Booster aims to accelerate the growth of biotechnology innovations, creating impact and contributing to solving societal challenges. It’s a lofty ambition and a big promise and we cannot do this by ourselves: the key element in achieving this ambition is building strong partnerships and collaborations with other NGF programs, with the biotech community in the Netherlands, and beyond. As Liaison Officer, you will play a crucial role in this.
About Biotech Booster
Biotech Booster is a National Growth Fund (NGF) program with funding of €246 million to support entrepreneurs and researchers in rapidly bringing their biotechnology innovations and scientific ideas to the market. Ideas and technologies that can contribute to solving societal challenges and improving our quality of life, such as cultured meat, climate-resistant crops, or innovative medicines or vaccines. We do this with a small, enthusiastic core team and a broad biotech network, including a group of 39 business- and impact developers, who work for knowledge institutions in five national teams (or Thematic Clusters, TCs). In 2024, the first 54 projects were funded by the Biotech Booster program.
Since the official start of the Biotech Booster program, our team is continuously focused on rapidly expanding our network and building meaningful relations with relevant stakeholders. We are looking to join forces with other NGF programs. Moreover, we will seek and develop profound strategic relations with various partners to strengthen the program and build an international ecosystem that allows for rapid commercialization of biotechnology innovations. This is where you come in.
Your role within the team:
As the Liaison Officer it is your mission to explore and identify essential partners for the Thematic Clusters, project partners, and scientists within the Biotech Booster program. You will develop new partnerships and maintain existing relations to achieve mutually beneficial goals. You will do this in close collaboration with the CEO of Biotech Booster, the Manager Partnerships & Alliances, and you will be a link between the Program Office, Thematic Clusters (TCs), partners and scientists. (Partners can be public organizations such as health funds or other National Growth Fund programs, similar international organizations, and industrial partners).
Your core tasks and responsibilities:
- Identify opportunities for collaboration between scientists, TCs, and industries to facilitate meaningful connections and collaborations.
- Develop a program, together with our working groups, to facilitate entrepreneurial thinking within the TCs and project teams.
- Develop a program, together with our working groups, to facilitate the “outside view” from entrepreneurs and investors within the TCs and project teams.
- Develop a program, together with our working groups, to facilitate opening up the world of academic research to the outside world.
- Stakeholder management: Build and nurture strategic partnerships with external parties
- Bring together unique and sometimes culturally diverse entities
- Keep track of and secure the progress of the joint business goals
- Have an open eye for common opportunities
You fit in our team
You like to roll up your sleeves and work towards an ambitious goal with an enthusiastic team. You get energized by new people and environments, are stress-resistant, and work pragmatically. With an open mind and your experience in building new connections, you are always the first one to spot an opportunity to bring together organizations and their goals in a meaningful way.
